What interests our audience? Adapting contents to suit the audience.
As deliberated in previous issues, our focus has been on studying what links in the Newsletter receive the highest visits. As anticipated, radiotherapy related items received the highest visits followed by free downloadable publications. It is interesting that even a publication which may be a year old or more, receives significant number of visits. With that we are continuing to focus and strengthen these two items. Additionally, we have added an item in this issue on “knowing the lesser known” to create better awareness of the program in less resourced country in Africa. Ghana has Human Development Index of 0.592— which put the country in the medium human development category—positioning it at 140 out of 189 countries and territories. It is heartening that Ghana had established a postgraduate medical physics program way back in 2004 and have already produced nearly 91 graduates. Please have a look at their future needs and please contact us if you wish to support them. We will be adding more countries and programs in future. Readers are welcome to provide suggestions in this respect and also on other items that are of wider interest to global community.
Quality of educational activities is an important element for ensuring that the candidates qualifying the medical physics program are able to perform well in professional arena after graduation. One way is to accredit the graduate program. IOMP has just accredited 3 courses in South Korea and readers are referred to more information in a news item in this newsletter.
