About IOMP: Mission , Membership, and Conferences
- The IOMP, founded in 1963, is a scientific, educational, and professional organization of 76 Member countries and more than 16,500 individual members, together with Corporate Members and International Regional Organizations.
-The mission of IOMP is to advance medical physics practice worldwide by disseminating scientific and technical information, fostering the education and professional development of medical physicists, and promoting the highest quality medical services for patients.
- The objectives of IOMP are (a) to contribute to the advancement of medical physics in all its aspects, especially in developing countries, (b) to encourage interest in the field of physics in medicine and biology and its application to human welfare; (c) to promote and improve the practice of medical physics and, (d) to promote research and training in medical physics and related fields, and (e) to encourage and advise on the formation of national organizations of medical physics in those countries that lack such organizations.
- The conferences of IOMP include (but not limited to): Triennial World Congress in collaboration with international biomedical engineers and International Conferences in Medical Physics in collaboration with regional Chapter Organizations.
- The Newsletter / Journals of IOMP includes: (1) Medical Physics World, MPW (biannual), (2) Physics in Medicine and Biology, (3) Physiological Measurement and (4) Medical Physics |
About IOMP Corporate Membership: Cost and Benefits
- The cost of Corporate Membership is $1500, with a reduced fee for small organisations. Sponsorship may be accepted in lieu of payment.
- The major benefit of Corporate Members is to reach to over 16,500 medical physics members worldwide by being listed (a) at the IOMP website [http://www.iomp.org/] and (b) MPW that is being distributed to ALL medical physicists in the 76 Member Organizations with total circulation over 16,500 copies per issue.
- The other benefits includes: (a) to receive 15% discount on advertising rate in MPW, (b) to receive discounted exhibition rate at the World Congresses and International Conferences in Medical Physics (to be determined by national conference organizers). |
