IOMP USED EQUIPMENT DONATION PROGRAM
The IOMP Used Equipment Donation Program had successfully facilitated shipping used equipment to developing countries for several years. The Program operates under the administration of the Professional Relations Committee. We follow the WHO Guidelines for Healthcare Equipment Donations (2000). The recipient institutions are served on first come first served basis in general and due care is given to emergency or special needs. Our goals are that the used equipment being donated to the program is in good condition and that it meets the need of the recipient country. However, there is no guarantee. We also provide guidance on its installation and use. If the developing country needs help in installation or training of their personnel, it can also be arranged. The shipping expenses are required to be paid in advance or arranged by the recipient. Financial help is available in some cases. Some countries impose import restrictions. The recipient is expected to handle all custom and import processes. For equipment that contains radioactive sources, the recipient must provide assurance that the disposal at the end of life will be done appropriately following IAEA guidelines. IOMP and its Committee and Program Manager are acting as intermediaries and offer expert advice in medical physics, but offer no guarantees and accept no liabilities. For more information please contact the Program Manager Mohammed Zaidi, M.S., at firstname.lastname@example.org.
